It’s a problem on all seven continents. Hotels are taking away bathroom doors. Why you ask? Because they want to make the rooms feel bigger while actually being smaller. But I’m not in the business of supporting businesses efforts to profit at the expense of my privacy. So I’ve created the first searchable list of hotels with no bathroom doors and I’m working on compiling hotels with bathroom doors in major cities. Today I was able to find a selection of hotels in Tokyo that all feature proper bathroom doors, the types of doors that would have been commonplace 10-15 years ago and are now a mystery to find.
I’ve carefully selected each of the hotels on this list to not only have doors, but to meet my own high standards for hotels. If you click any of the links in the article I may receive a small commission from Booking.com.
Boutique Hotels in Tokyo
The Blossom Hibiya

Is it a small bathroom? Undoubtedly, but the rooms make the most of the space they have and they all have bathroom doors, so does it really even matter if the sink space is minimal? You have a small counter above the toilet instead. And it’s centrally located near Shimbasi Station.
Rooms from $120.

Mitsui Garden Hotel Jingugaien Tokyo Premier

This luxury hotel offers spacious rooms, excellent amenities, and double bathroom doors. That’s right. The shower and sink have a door, AND the toilet has it’s own door as well. I don’t know what else you could ask for.

Built in the last ten years, this hotel is an anomaly. And by that I mean that not only does it have a bathroom door, but it also has a fridge for customers to use! Clearly this hotel is focused on the customer over everything.
